Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the Survey Technician is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting mine systems, performing field survey work, production reconciliations, surface management, advancing survey systems and processes, generating blasting instructions and assisting the mine planning team. The role will follow a 4 day on, 4 day off schedule with 12 hour shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Provide assistance to the engineering group with geotechnical monitoring, surveying, drill and blast field control/pattern layout and explosive loading instructions, geology coal interpretations, and generating and maintaining mine maps
  • Provide daily survey support for the operations group by coordinating jobs and working closely with operations supervisors
  • Surveying with the advanced techniques such as lidar, thermal and photogrammetry using aerial and amphibious drones
  • Assist in maintaining mine engineering, mine operating, and maintenance systems.
  • Prepare, upload and download files to mobile field systems
  • Arrange and provide training as needed for co-op students and engineers in training

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two year technical diploma in Mineral Resource Development, Mining Engineering, Surveying or Geomatics
  • Mining and survey experience is an asset
  • Drone, photogrammetry and lidar experience is an asset
  • Experience using a mine planning software such as MineSight 3D is advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work effectively in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
