Reporting to the Director of Mine Transition, Onaping Depth Project, the Mine Operations Superintendent is the Owner accountable for the preparation, planning and safe execution of all the development aspects coming off the Onaping Depth Shaft that is currently being driven to a depth below 2.6Km. The position works in close collaboration with the Project Team and the various members of the Operations Group, transitioning the project through Operational Readiness. The Project Phase will continue into early/mid 2025.
This work will be executed in three stages, an initial stage with the shaft sinking contractor, a second stage with intermediate gear to advance workings to the point where Glencore crews will take over with a new fleet of full-size Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) gear. Several key raisebore jobs are also part of this work.
The successful candidate requires a University degree in Mine Engineering or a minimum of 15 years of development related work where “high-speed” development projects and experience in optimizing the development cycle would be considered an asset. Strong managerial skills with excellent communication and organizational skills will be required for successful execution. Proven negotiation and influencing skills along with the ability to identify, recommend and implement cost effective efficiencies to improve overall operational performance are key.
