This position is for work at the remote Red Chris Mine located 80 km south of Dease Lake, BC, in Tahltan traditional territory. The successful applicant will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift rotation. We offer a number of designated flight marshalling points within BC. Reporting to the Tailings Manager, the Cyclone Sand Construction Supervisor will be involved in the construction, maintenance and surveillance of the projects 30,000 mtpd tailings impoundment facilities and associated water management systems

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promoting and participating in a safe work culture, following all site operating procedures
  • Supervising the operation of the Tailings Cyclone Sand Plant System
  • Oversee a crew of dozer and excavator equipment operators working on cycloned sand placement
  • Responsible for the coordination and execution of all field activities related to cycloned sand dam construction
  • Implement and supervise cycloned sand production trials to optimize deposition methods and efficiency of cycloned sand placement
  • Provide daily work directions and optimize all field construction activities related to cycloned sand placement
  • Assisting Mill Maintenance Department in general maintenance work on cyclone towers and pipes
  • Complete daily dam and cyclone inspections using defined checklists
  • Assist in tailings pond sampling programs
  • Assist is surveying, GPS field and geotechnical lab testing
  • Manage and supervise pumping and dewatering activities within the Tailings Impoundment Area
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Tailings Dam Management Team

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 7 - 10 year’s industry experience, preferably mining or heavy civil earthworks construction.
  • 7 - 10 years’ experience within the construction of a Tailings Impoundment Area including working with cycloned sand dam construction, operating cyclones and completing pipe work
  • Experience in operating dozers within cycloned sand cells
  • Supervisory experience - ability to manage multiple crews and job tasks
  • Related safety & B.C. Mines Ministry Open Pit Supervisor Tickets are viewed favourable
  • Grade 12 or GED, Class 5 driver’s license
  • Computer skills with MS Excel and Word
