Accountant – Peace River Coal (Tumbler Ridge, BC)

We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to support our Peace River Coal operation and the Trend Mountain Hotel in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. The role is a permanent position in the care & maintenance team reporting to the Mine Manager. Your core functions will be driving the month end, forecasting, annual business plan, hotel account preparation, accounts payable including weekly cheque runs, banking, payroll and general ledger reconciliations. You will assist in site cost management and regularly liaise with our corporate office in Brisbane, Australia in regards to accounting and related issues. 

As the successful applicant you will have good commercial acumen, have the ability to manage various tasks, work independently with a strong governance and internal controls focus. Possess the ability to problem solve, provide analysis of differences and the commentary behind those findings. With also, previous exposure in Budget, Business Planning and Forecasting.

Essentially you will hold relevant tertiary qualifications in business and/or commerce, be CA/CPA qualified (or near completion) and have a minimum of three years commercial experience in a similar role.  Experience in Excel is essential.

You will utilise your knowledge and understanding of management accounting principles to deliver on cost analysis. You will also demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills to deliver financial information to non-financial audiences.
