Taseko Mines Limited of Vancouver, B.C. is a mining exploration, development and production company focused on creating wealth through the growth and development of current assets, as well as the acquisition of other promising projects.  Taseko’s main assets are the Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine, the Prosperity gold-copper project, the Harmony Gold and Aley Niobium prospects. 

The Gibraltar Mine, located near the City of Williams Lake in the beautiful Cariboo region of British Columbia, is the second largest open pit copper mine in Canada with daily mill throughput of 46,000 tons.  Gibraltar is currently undergoing upgrades to the mill and concentrator which will increase mill throughput to 55,000 tons per day and results in a 27 year mine life based on current reserves.  The company’s Prosperity Project located 125 km south west of Williams Lake hosts a large gold-copper reserve, has recently been granted a Provincial Assessment Certificate and is being advanced through permitting.

The Gibraltar Mine has a current opening for an:

ELECTRICAL FOREMAN

Reporting to the Electrical General Foreman, the Electrical Foreman will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that production and maintenance goals are met in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Ensuring that daily maintenance programs associated with pit equipment, crushing, milling and instrumentation are being followed.
  • Developing plans for additions and modifications to Plant, Pit, Crushing, Milling electrical and instrumentation as required.
  • Supervising "troubleshooting" of complex electrical, electronic, and pneumatic equipment.  Experience and analytical ability are necessary in this area to minimize downtime.
  • Training tradespersons and apprentices in proper maintenance procedures and safe work habits, on a daily basis.
  • Assisting mechanical maintenance personnel in co-coordinating major overhauls of equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Approving timecards, processing leave requests, scheduling vacations and conducting employee performance appraisals.

Qualifications

  • Certified Journeyman Electrician with Inter-provincial trade qualifications.
  • 5 years previous supervisory experience.
  • Preference will be given to those with open pit mining experience relating to:
    • G.E. Diesel/Electric drive systems
    • Electric mining shovels
    • Power distribution systems and,
    • PLC control systems
