Reliability Technician

Reporting to the Reliability Engineer, the Reliability Technician has a significant role in providing predictive techniques to the maintenance department to eliminate or mitigate the effects of equipment failure by preserving the functionality of the equipment in a cost effective manner while ensuring that all safety, environmental, and legal requirements are met.


  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Review asset condition data daily and initiate actions. Work with the planning department and maintenance engineering team to confirm and execute actions
  • Maintain PdM/CBAM programs and technologies, including, but not limited to: Thermography, Vibration, Ultrasound and Lubrication Analysis
  • Support engineering in a continuous review & improvement process for PdM/CBAM programs
  • Perform gap analysis of programs and managing improvements
  • Ensure proper interpretation, planning, execution and follow-up of identified failures
  • Work closely with Trade personnel regarding lubrication sampling
  • Participate in reviews for asset maintenance requirements
  • Support engineering in applying component life extension programs
  • Support the reliability engineer in routine failure investigation and analysis


  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or technical diploma in a related field
  • Vibration Analyst Certification as well as Machinery Lubrication Analyst Certification would be definite asset
  • Previous experience with plant maintenance is recommended
  • Hands‐on experience with typical equipment failure, operation, and maintenance (preferably in a heavy industrial environment) is required
  • Good understanding of condition monitoring techniques, knowledge of welding inspection, welding techniques, alignment and balancing techniques is recommended
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of leadership and team consensus building
  • Ability to be a self-starter, multi-task and to meet challenges directly
