Programmer Analyst

Reporting to the Supervisor, Training & Safety Solutions-Coal BU, the Programmer Analyst is responsible for independently designing, developing, implementing and supporting software solutions that support business objectives, solve business problems, and improves business performance for the Training and Safety business areas at all Teck Coal operations. The candidate is expected to develop close professional relationship with their Business partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead operational support for the business area assigned
  • Work independently or in a team environment to perform functional and business analysis in order to design, develop and deploy business solutions
  • Design, code, test, debug, maintain, and document programs
  • Act as a project leader on less complex projects; plan and estimate work, identify required resources, and proactively manage activities to deliver results within expected plan, schedule, and budget
  • Assist in the creation and design of solutions to solve complex business problems -- both manual and automated
  • Provide updates and identify training opportunities to keep in sync the functionality of the application and the application training material
  • Comply with Teck Digital Systems (TDS) Standards, policies and procedures to ensure security and integrity of the applications
  • Provide quality assurance review

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering with a minimum of four years experience in all aspect of application development
  • Experience or familiarity with the following:
    • Visual Studio, Visual Basic 6, VB.NET, C# programming languages
    • Framework familiarity with Angular, Bootstrap would be an asset
    • Windows Operating Environment
    • Web Application Development/IIS
    • SSRS, Power BI
    • Oracle 12c and SQL Server
    • PLSQL experience
  • Understanding of Application Integration technologies and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Good organizational and conceptual skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact well with other team members, other TDS teams, and business partners
  • Solid analytical and diagnostic skills
