Mining Systems Analyst

Reporting to the Mining Systems Supervisor the Mining Systems Analyst is responsible for identifying, implementing and supporting technology-based business solutions that enable improvements in safety, productivity and sustainability at Teck’s large scale mining operations worldwide. This role may require some travel. While the successful candidate will report into Sparwood Shared Services, their workspace will be based at Line Creek Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Facilitate and support cyber-security improvements, incident response, and forensics
  • Participate in the planning, development, and support of solutions to meet the business objectives of the Mine Operations, Engineering, and Operating Excellence departments at all Teck mining operations
  • Apply organizational change management techniques to derive more value from existing technologies and ensure maximum adoption of new technologies
  • Administer a variety of server and client platforms, including embedded industrial devices
  • Troubleshooting, root cause analysis to ensure reliable, high performing systems
  • Proactively monitor assigned systems and provide 24/7 technical support services for critical issues
  • Build extensive knowledge and skills by performing cross-team support for other Operational Technology teams
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Adhere to the Teck Digital Systems (TDS) change control and other policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain relationships across Teck operations and corporate offices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Two to five years of experience delivering and supporting information technology services in an industrial setting
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills, particularly in the context of an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server Operating Systems, virtualization, Active Directory and computer networking fundamentals is required. Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems would be an asset
  • Programming experience using Microsoft .NET C#/VB.NET, SQL Server, shell scripting and source control
  • Networking fundamentals relating to wireless networking, firewalls, and knowledge of common network protocols would be an asset
  • Experience working with serial, CANBUS, and digital I/O interfaces would be an asset
  • Experience working with mining specific systems such as fleet management, high precision guidance, geotechnical monitoring, or similar systems would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of project management and business analysis techniques
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to maintain relationships with business partners, business management and application users
  • Strong cross-functional team participant and collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Working level Spanish would be beneficial
