Business Improvement Analyst – Maintenance (Temporary)

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Business Improvement Analyst – Maintenance is responsible for supporting the mobile maintenance department with a combination of cost and business analyses to support the planning, scheduling, engineering and execution teams in a variety of areas.


  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Collate forecasting and budgeting data. Compare actual spend vs. budget and forecasts to develop and understand opportunities to improve equipment $/op hour
  • Ensure data accuracy for cost, availability, downtime and other critical KPIs
  • Utilize short interval control methodology and update weekly spend profile to provide additional support on labour factor, repair parts, and contractor spend decisions
  • Work closely with reliability engineering to evaluate potential projects and assist with project and task prioritization
  • Utilize available data streams to investigate, analyze, and make recommendations to support business improvement projects
  • Facilitate maintenance improvement initiatives and opportunities through a structured approached to reduce equipment downtime and cost, increase wrench time, and other improvement strategies
  • Utilize internal databases to develop, implement and maintain reports that present key performance metrics
  • Communicate and present analytical findings and recommendations to key personnel
  • Assist in leading and managing business improvement initiatives by utilizing project management and leadership skills
  • Optimize existing business improvement processes


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Math, or Business is an asset
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of mining and maintenance operations and processes
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet development, word processing, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience, Microsoft AX, SQL, and Visual Basic are also an asset
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence others and work with cross-functional teams
  • A proven team player and able to work well in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment
