Mount Polley Mining Corporation (MPMC) has a position available for a Safety Officer.

Job Description

The Safety Officer will be responsible for occupational health and safety programs for mine operations.

In conjunction with the needs of the operation, other duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • • Assist in planning, developing, monitoring and evaluating safety program to ensure safe operations;
  • • Perform drug screening and breath alcohol screening as required for all cases of post‐incident, reasonable cause or pre‐access/employment as required;
  • • Aid in accident/incident investigations and reporting;
  • • Ensure adherence to MPMC environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements;
  • • Facilitate prevention and improvements in safe work culture and behavior through coaching and interaction with site management, employees, contractors and visitors;
  • • Identify occupation safety/health hazards and recommend correction for deficiencies.

Minimum Qualifications & Preferences

  • Valid WCB Occupational First Aid Level 3 or equivalent suitable for work in British Columbia
  • Advanced level proficiency of MS Office programs
  • 3‐5 years of progressively responsible experience related to management of Occupational Health and Safety Programs at an open pit operation
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory factors related to the BC mining industry
  • Experience in adminsistering employee‐based safety teams for Emergency Response & Mine Rescue
  • Valid Class 4 (or higher) BC Driver’s License
  • BC Mine Rescue certificate

MPMC is not a fly‐in camp. Employees are expected to find their own accommodation. Transportation
